Oslo, Norway - April 28, 2026 - OTee, the industrial deeptech company building software-defined control systems for deterministic, safe, and reliable operation, has raised a €5.3 million Seed Round led by North Ventures, with participation from Atlas SGR and existing investors RunwayFBU, Superangel, and Antler. The funding will support product development and international expansion as OTee scales its software-defined control platform.
Industrial control systems run physical operations across nearly every sector of the global economy - from energy, utilities, and manufacturing to logistics, water, and beyond. Yet most systems still rely on proprietary PLC hardware and closed vendor ecosystems that have changed little in decades. As industries move toward AI, cloud, and modern software practices, these hardware-bound systems are becoming a key limitation.
With OTee's virtual PLC platform, customers can replace proprietary PLC hardware with software-defined control running on open, off-the-shelf hardware. This allows them to reduce vendor lock-in, lower costs, standardize control systems across sites, and roll out updates faster - while maintaining the deterministic behavior, safety, and reliability required in mission-critical operations.
"Industrial control is one of the last major infrastructure layers still tied to proprietary hardware. As industry adopts software-defined control and probabilistic AI, the control layer that governs physical operations must remain deterministic, predictable, and safe."
— Henrik Pedersen, Co-Founder and CEO, OTee
The technology is already deployed across energy, utilities, and manufacturing. Customers use OTee to reduce dependence on proprietary hardware, standardize control systems across sites, and establish the deterministic control foundation needed to integrate AI into real-world operations.
"We are continuously looking at how we can apply AI and modernize our operations at scale. One of the structural barriers across operations has been control system technology that is too closed and inflexible. OTee brings a compelling new approach based on software-defined, open control architecture, and the real-time integration with Cognite Data Fusion's Industrial Knowledge Graph enables opportunities across OT & IT that will drive significant business value."
— Paula Doyle, Chief Digital Officer at Aker BP
"With OTee, we can develop and deploy control logic more flexibly across multiple sites without being tied to specific hardware or tools. At the same time, we maintain the deterministic performance required for safe operations, and seamless integration with modern data and software platforms creates new opportunities for optimization at scale."
— Gjermund Mathisen, Technical Authority of Subsea Control, Aker BP
Lead investor North Ventures sees OTee as a leader in the shift toward software-defined industrial control.
"We believe the shift to software-defined control will define the next era of industrial automation. OTee is well positioned to lead that transition."
— Mikkel Strandkjær, Investment Lead, North Ventures
Industrial investor RunwayFBU increased its investment in OTee, reflecting continued confidence in the company's long-term potential and helping open doors to flagship industrial customers, including Aker BP.
"We doubled down because their technology is already gaining adoption among world-leading industrial operators addressing critical control challenges. OTee is building the control infrastructure layer needed to support modern software and AI higher up the stack."
— Peder Hjermann, Associate Partner, RunwayFBU
OTee is scaling their engineering team to meet increasing demand. The new funding will support continued product development, expansion into international markets, and broader adoption across industrial operators, system integrators, and hardware partners.
